Rep. Hartgen On Moratorium For Wind Energy

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) "The moratorium bill on wind energy is still on the House Calendar and it may not come forward. The decision this week by the Bureau of Land Management to put a hold on the China Mountain project, that may have an impact on the bill," says Republican Rep. Stephen Hartgen, District 23.

There's a proposal before the House to a put a two?year moratorium or freeze, on all wind project developments within the state.

Rep. Hartgen says many feel there doesn't need to be a formal moratorium because of natural market conditions and federal regulations.

And there are issues regarding the siting of some of these projects. Rep. Hartgen feels it's a local zoning issue.
